Isis™, L-3 MAPPS' modular instructor station has been designed to assist the instructor in controlling the training environment while monitoring all aspects of trainee and simulator performance. Available on Linux, Unix and Windows platforms, its modular design allows it to be easily integrated into any existing simulator environment or perfectly coupled with L-3 MAPPS' simulation environment.
All standard windowing features are supported. The windows can be moved, resized, pushed, popped, stowed and closed as required. Graphic pages such as system schematics and virtual panels can be easily panned and zoomed for maximum versatility.
The lesson plan system is perhaps the most important feature of Isis™. Scenario automation can easily be accomplished by first creating a plan in edit mode. The instructor selects the initialization, control and monitor functions as well as the criteria for automation from the instructor station pages, just as he would during any training session. Once completed, the lesson is available from the lesson index without any compilation or linking. In fact, all steps in the lesson scenarios can be designed to run in parallel, sequentially or in combination while the plan itself can even cycle repeatedly.
Plant controls (virtual panels) and system schematics can easily be created and modified by both L-3 MAPPS and the user by using the high-end graphic simulation package that is provided with Isis™. These displays update in realtime such that symbols, readouts and colors represent the current simulation status. Instructor Actions (IAs) such as malfunctions and remote functions can be inserted by selecting the corresponding device, after which the list box of IAs will appear. These diagrams are also used in an identical fashion for selecting system parameters for plotting, monitoring and setting up conditions for pending instructor actions or automatic lesson plan control.
